Bike beyond Berlin
Biosphere Reserve Schorfheide-Chorin

Chorin – Brodowin – Parsteiner See

Have you ever heard of Brodowin? Probably not, and that’s no wonder: It is a Brandenburg village situated in the north-east of Berlin with just under 500 residents. Nevertheless, it has achieved a certain level of fame in Berlin and beyond. Brodowin is a flagship ecovillage that lies within the biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin.

The farms in Brodowin started to convert to organic farming and to promote animal welfare after the German reunification. The farms today successfully supply both Berlin retailers and direct customers.

Brodowin is not far from Berlin and the idyllic village makes you feel like you are in a completely different, tranquil community.

After a break with a catered visit to the largest Demeter operation, we cycle via the lookout ‘Kleiner Rummelsberg’ towards Brandenburg’s second largest lake Parsteiner See.

It is graced with crystal clear water and hidden bathing areas. A dream in summer!

On our tour you will learn a lot about the last ice age, focusing on the rolling hills north of the capital which are moraines that have shaped the unique landscape around 15,000 years ago, during the Weichselian glacial period. [/column_grid_6] [column_grid_6]

But Brodowin is just one highlight of this tour. After a good 30 minute train ride, we will depart on the regional express in Chorin.

Chorin features a well-preserved medieval Cistercian monastery that annually attracts around 100,000 visitors. From here the journey continues through pristine woods on easy cycle paths towards Brodowin.
